Email - The Electronic Post Person

When you see a job advert, you will notice that the majority of employers will ask for a CV & Cover Letter to be emailed to them. For those of you who don't have any experience using email (e-mail), it is electronic mail. In it's simplest form it can be viewed as an electronic post person. It allows you to send information from your computer to anyone in the world who has an email address.

So how do you start:

We have listed some of the major providers on the left side of the page who provide a free email service. Click on any of them and the page will take you there. You will see a login page with the option to register. Click, click, click thats all you have to do. Click on the registration button or link and complete the registration form. You will be able to choose an username and password, keep these safe because you will need them in the future to log in to your account.

Once registered you will be able to access your account using your username and password. This is your electronic postbox. Here you will see a bunch of buttons; inbox, outbox; sent items; deleted; junk etc. Think of these as your postbox, bin and junk box. You will also see a menu; new, reply, forward etc. Think of these as what you can do with the message you receive.

Email is this simple, it is a matter of trial and error. Give it a go and don't worry.
